Submit medical claims to provinces other then Ontario (Except Quebec)

Why are there two province fields?

How do I bill a patient from Alberta?

That is a great question! *The answer below applies to HYPEMedical version 3 (HM33, 43 and 53).

There are two Province fields on both, the Claim Details and Edit Patient forms:

  1. The Province field next to the Validate button and health card number belongs to the province that issued the patient's health card.
  2. The second province field belongs to the patient's place of residency, temporarily in Ontario or elsewhere.

OHIP will broker claims to patients from other provinces on your behalf (Quebec is the exception - for Quebec billing, HYPEMedical has a paper form).
Creating an Alberta (or other province or territory) claim is similar to a regular OHIP claim. Claim Type must be RMB instead of the most commonly used, HCP - P.

*In HYPEMedical versions 1 and 2 the province field always refers to the province that issued the the health card.
